The Fox Chapel Area School District is THE most economically diverse school district in the state. That means within a handful of miles from the pew where you’re sitting, there’s someone suffering chronic hunger — many “someones,” including kids.
Love Thy Neighbor has been created to cook and deliver between 20 and 30 meals each week to the Community Free Fridge in Sharpsburg, so people can get what they need to feed themselves and their families with zero hassle and zero shame.
A small group has been meeting in the church’s beautiful kitchen regularly since November for about 90 minutes every other week to prep, cook, package and deliver simple meals … AND laugh, share our days and fellowship.
And now we’d like to share the joy. Our goal is to recruit several numbers of teams to join the mission.
how to Get Involved
You can sign up to cook, deliver, donate, or offer a tried-and-true recipe. Maybe your home group is interested? A couple of families together? You and a friend or two or three? And cook where you’d like. Your own kitchen is great.
The ask is simple:
1. Every other week or so, gather a few people to prep and cook. We can share tips to get you started.
2. Package and label individual portions (labels provided!)
3. Deliver it straight to the fridge 10 minutes from our parking lot.
